Kuo Po is born in Singapore in the year of the Tiger under the astrological star sign of Libra. A Singaporean by nationality, she is Chinese, speaks fluent English and Mandarin..
Kuo Po is educated in Singapore with a double-major degree in Economics and Sociology from National University of Singapore. She took part in the national television's talent quest, Talentime 1984 and her popularity and original style won the hearts of the audience in the finals. She embarked on a singing career right after graduation. Formerly trained in classical piano, Kuo Po also plays the saxophone, guitar and drums.
While still performing, Kuo Po embarked on a bar management career. She created the first all-English Karaoke bar, Java Jive (1990-1994). Her second bar is Dada (1994-1996), a disco and live band venue. She was also the Assistant General Manager of the Europa chain of entertainment outlets (2000-2001). As the Executive Director of Dennon Entertainment, she assisted Singapore 's bar guru, Mr Dennis Foo, in managing the very successful Devils Bar a franchise food and beverage outlet of football club Manchester United.(2001-2002).
With her experience gained from front lining shows and management from the bar industry, Kuo Po ventured on to managing artistes and producing shows and concerts. She created and trademarked Cherry Chocolate Candy , the grand winners of Talentime 2001. She executively co-produced Wendi Koh's debut album, "Gutsy Girl" released in October 2002. She is the sole proprietor of Precious Entertainment , which produces shows and manages artistes.In 2004, she founded Kids Performing, a performance training programme for children and created Singapore JazzKids. |
